Is Kirk Cameron's Religious Revival A Trump Rally? (Video)

| by Michael Allen

Actor Kirk Cameron called for a religious revival in a video (below) that he posted on his Facebook page Oct. 7.

The video promotes Cameron's live "Revive US" event, which is scheduled to be broadcast in movie theaters around the country Oct. 18. This religious event includes Ben Carson and Christian radio host Eric Metaxas, who are both strong supporters of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Metaxas wrote an op-ed for The Wall Street Journal on Oct. 12 that said: "A vote for Donald Trump is not necessarily a vote for Donald Trump himself. It is a vote for those who will be affected by the results of this election. Not to vote is to vote. God will not hold us guiltless," notes psychologist and blogger Warren Throckmorton.

In his promo video, Cameron says:

America is in serious trouble. So, I'm calling a national family meeting. As I visit churches all across the country, moms tell me they're concerned about their children's future. Dads tell me they know something's broken and that the nation is on the wrong track. But they all ask what can we do?

I began meeting with the most brilliant, insightful, faithful people I know: pastors, authors, filmmakers, presidential candidates and they gave me answers that filled me with hope and optimism. It was a new perspective, it refreshed my spirit and revived my heart.

Later in the video, Cameron provides this voiceover as a shot of the U.S. Capitol flashes across the screen toward the end:

I need you to come because you're part of the family. Gather the children, the parents, the grandparents, the whole family is coming to pray to worship and to learn how to transform this nation from the inside out and the bottom all the way up to the top. Because when our family gets together and the Spirit is moving we are unstoppable.

Cameron gave an ominous warning to the Topeka Capital-Journal in May:

People think we are in the last days of America. Is it too late? No, it’s not too late. It’s not impossible to turn it around, but there’s no time to wait any longer. We are nearing the point of no return, but we’re not there yet. But we must lean in, double down and engage ASAP because we’ve been coasting for too long.
