Franklin Graham: Progressives Are Mostly Atheists

| by Michael Allen

Evangelist Franklin Graham declared on Nov. 4 that most progressives are atheists who oppose God's laws.

Graham made his announcement on Facebook, a social media site founded by an atheist (Mark Zuckerberg):

Our state has early voting, and I voted this week. As I got out of my car, a lady approached me and asked if I wanted a list of the Progressive candidates. I told her no thank you. You know, the word Progressive is just a way to try to make secular and godlessness sound better and more up-to-date.

I told this lady that Progressives are for the most part atheists—and they’re not going to stand for God’s laws and for His direction in our country. Beware, and be sure to know what you are voting for and who you are voting for.

The Eleanor Roosevelt Papers Project at George Washington University dates the progressive movement as far back as 1890:

Progressivism began as a social movement and grew into a political movement. The early progressives rejected Social Darwinism. In other words, they were people who believed that the problems society faced (poverty, violence, greed, racism, class warfare) could best be addressed by providing good education, a safe environment, and an efficient workplace. Progressives lived mainly in the cities, were college educated, and believed that government could be a tool for change.

The Huffington Post noted in 2014 that there was a resurgence among progressive Christians who have promoted Medicaid expansion for the poor (under Obamacare), supported gun control, sounded the alarm on global warming, pushed for immigration reform (U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops), advocated for the equality for same-sex couples and called for lawmakers to change Draconian sentencing laws for drug offenders.

Some of the socially conscious Christian progressive groups include "Nuns on a Bus, Sojourners, Red Letter Christians, The Cana Initiative, Moral Mondays, Faithful America," reported The Huffington Post.
