Former Pastor of Summit Church Isaac Hunter Reportedly Commits Suicide

Issac Hunter, founder and former pastor of mega church Summit Church in Orlando, Fla., died Tuesday of an apparent suicide.

“We found out today that Isaac took his life,” reads an email from Darling Murray, a coordinator at the church. “We are praying for his family and this congregation as we walk through this together.”

Hunter had been a tenured pastor at Summit Church since 2002 but resigned in December after admitting to an affair. During that time, his wife filed a domestic-violence petition and accused him of being “unstable, erratic and suicidal.”

A suicide note was found on Hunter’s computer just before his 35th birthday. In the note, Hunter asked to be remembered as a man who loved his children, parents, brothers and friends. He added that he had become a burden to those he loved the most.

Pastor Vernon Rainwater requested that the congregation respect the privacy of Hunter’s family and continue to pray for them.

Church officials continue to wait on an official police report of Hunter’s death.

Hunter is survived by his wife and three children.
