Internet Christian evangelist Joshua Feuerstein brandished a handgun in a video (below) on July 17, encouraged all Christians to carry firearms in order to protect police officers, and said he would personally shoot someone (60 times) who pulled a gun on a cop.

Feuerstein, who posted the video on his Facebook page, appeared to blame the anti-police brutality movement Black Lives Matter for some recent police shootings:

You want to know what the problem is, is that we have this movement in America that is absolutely degrading the lives of good police officers. And, you see, I was raised in a home where we respected police, in fact, I had little a police uniform, I played like I was a cop, why? Because I was taught that cops were heroes.

Today, we’ve got kids that are growing up in these different homes where the parents are not respecting police or cussing them out and calling them pigs, telling kids not to trust them. That’s the problem! We’re fostering a generation of people who no longer have respect for authority. It’s a godless and a disgusting generation. Look, I’m calling on every American citizen, I love Jesus. I love Jesus. I’m a preacher, but you know what?

I also carry an FN Five-seven filled with 20 rounds of pure brutality right there. Look, I may love Jesus, but if I see you pull a gun on an officer, you want to know whose side I’m on? That’s right. I’m gonna fill you with 60 rounds of pure lead. And I guarantee you, you’re gonna have lead poisoning. Look guys, it’s time that we as Americans, we as Christians, we gotta start carrying guns because we gotta protect our superheroes, our police officers.

The video was viewed over 4.8 million times on Facebook in one day.

It's not clear what "godless" generation Feuerstein was referring to, but according to the Pew Research Center, only 9 percent of African Americans identify as religiously unaffiliated, also known as religious "nones." Additionally, African Americans make up 94 percent of the Historically Black Protestant group, 6 percent of the Evangelical Protestant group, 27 percent of the Jehovah's Witness group, 28 percent of the Muslim group, and 8 percent of the Orthodox Christian group.

When three police officers were shot and killed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on July 17, Black Lives Matter co-leader DeRay Mckesson called for peace during an interview with The New York Times.

"My prayers are with the victims of all violence," Mckesson added.
