A Washington-based evangelical church is closing 15 of its branches after founder Mark Driscoll said that women are just “very nice” homes for a man’s penis.
Mars Hill church cited financial difficulties following “negative media attention.”
It also dismissed Pastor Driscoll, who allegedly posted on a church message board under the name William Wallace II explaining in detail his beliefs about the penis.
“The first thing to know about your penis is, that despite the way it may see, it is not your penis,” he wrote. “Ultimately, God created you and it is his penis. You are simply borrowing it for a while.

“While His penis is on loan you must admit that it is sort of just hanging out there very lonely as if it needed a home, sort of like a man wondering the streets looking for a house to live in,” he wrote.
“Knowing that His penis would need a home, God created a woman to be your wife and when you marry her and look down you will notice that your wife is shaped differently than you and makes a very nice home,” he continued.
"Therefore, if you are single you must remember that your penis is homeless and needs a home," he wrote. "But, though you may believe your hand is shaped like a home, it is not. And, though women other than your wife may look like a home, to rest there would be breaking into another man’s home. And, if you look at a man it is quite obvious that what a homeless man does not need is another man without a home."
About 20 other pastors signed a document in August accusing Mars Hill and Driscoll of misconduct. The letter alleged that Driscoll is a “domineering and arrogant” bully, who told a staff elder that he shouldn’t have a prominent leadership role because “his fat ass is not the image we want for our church.”

The pastors also alleged that Driscoll was guilty of sexual harassment and that they knew of “a number of credible reports of inappropriate sexually-oriented comments that Pastor Mark has made to and about other men’s wives, particularly in casual social settings.”
