Video: Pat Robertson Calls 'SNL' Tim Tebow Skit "Anti-Christian Bigotry"

On The 700 Club (video below), televangelist Pat Robertson said that a 'Saturday Night Live' skit this weekend on Jesus and football quarterback Tim Tebow was brought on by “an anti-Christian bigotry that’s disgusting.”

“If this had been a Muslim country and they had done that, and had Muhammad doing that stuff, you would have found bombs being thrown off, and bodies on the street,” Robertson said. “We need more religious faith in our society, we’re losing our moral compass in our nation.”

Robertson went on to praise Tebow for his faith.

“I think he is a wonderful human being. And this man has been placed in a unique position and I applaud him, God bless him.”

The guy who was pal with the dictator Charles Taylor of Liberia, you know, the dictator whose thugs cut off the hands and arms of Liberians, has a point. After all, it isn't like Christian is dominant in society. Wait, it is, just that. Yes, Pat, in Islamic nations, or at least some of the, you can't do a satire that involves Christianity. NOr, in such nations, can you advocate Chrsitian fundamentalism, like you do. You have a right to display your bigoted hatred of gays etc because we as a secular republic protect your right to be a major ahole.

Pat Robertson needs to look up "hypocrite" in the dictionary. SNL has spoofed muslims too on many occasions. One of the funniest skits I saw was when Will Ferrell was on the phone with "Osama Bin Laden" as the very reluctant suicide bomber.

Tim Debow is forgetting those portions of the bible where it says not to throw your religion at others in the public square. Matthew 6:5 -> When you pray, don't be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get. <<<

Spoofing Tebow is right on target.

He's right about what the reaction would be in Muslim countries if Muhammad were spoofed in that way, but isn't that the point...we live in a FREE country where we have the right to be funny or stupid or whatever opinion anyone may have of the skit. SNL spoofs anything and everything. Let 'em be and let the ratings determine how entertaining they are.

I couldn't agree more. Satire that is not funny will die on its own. The Monty Python crew has satirized every religion on the planet, and their movies still have a cult following such as "The Life of Brian," which mocks christianity more than any other piece of comedy ever produced.

The good thing about the US is that everyone can have this exchange safely without fear of being killed over words. Islam might have a shariah law that insists on the death penalty for anyone who insults the prophet, but anyone even considering trying to carry it out would be arrested for conspiracy. The US has very active anti-mulsim, anti-catholic, and racist web sites up and running without hindrance. We even had a KKK member, David Duke, run for office. However, the democratic processes work, and we tend not to elect active racists and hate mongers, and because of freedom of association, none of us are forced to listen to people with whome we disagree.

The first amendment is our most important right. The free market decides which ideas and forms of expression succeed.

Yes, it is OK! Why the fuck would you want to live in a country where people throw bombs after someone makes a joke?!?

Everything I do, I do it for you.

I like how its either not bigotry when he speaks ill of others, or bigotry is ok when he's doing it.

I don't follow anyone, because those that appear to be on the same path usually end up just getting in my way.
