Shreveport, La. city councilman Ron Webb was the lone vote against a non-discrimination ordinance, which bans discrimination based on sexual and gender identity.

KSLA reports that the ordinance passed on Dec. 10, 2013, but Webb opposed the law because “the Bible tells you homosexuals are an abomination.”

Webb called for a repeal of the ordinance two weeks after it passed.

According to, dozens of people showed up at a recent city council meeting to discuss the repeal (video below).

During the meeting, Pamela Raintree, a transgender woman, held a stone as she quoted the Bible to Webb, “Leviticus 20:13 states, ‘If a man also lie with mankind as he lieth with a woman, they shall surely put him to death.'"

"I brought the first stone, Mr. Webb, in case that your Bible talk isn’t just a smoke screen for personal prejudices,” added Raintree.

Webb withdrew his proposed repeal without calling for a vote.
