Rep. Doug Lamborn Lectures on Diversity, Wants to Protect Christmas Only (Video)

In response to the supposed “War on Christmas,” Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.) has written a resolution to “save Christmas” that offers an U.S. government endorsement of the religious holiday.

During his appearance on “Fox & Friends” this morning, Rep. Lamborn claimed he supported “tolerance of the diversity and pluralism of our society,” but failed to mention that his resolution only refers to Christmas, notes RawStory.com (video below).

According to Mediaite.com, Fox & Friends fill-in host Anna Kooiman said the resolution would “protect” everyone who wants to “say ‘Christmas’” or publicly display nativity scenes, but in reality a resolution is not a binding law.

“H.R. 448 is a bipartisan resolution to protect Christmas,” said Rep. Lamborn. “It says that we should, as a country, protect the symbols and traditions of Christmas and not put up with any attempts to ban the symbols and traditions of Christmas.”

“There is a vocal minority that is offended at the rest of us who want to celebrate Christmas,” claimed Rep. Lamborn. “Just because someone is offended doesn’t mean that they can shut down the religious celebration or acknowledgement of every other American. Then that tramples on the rights of those Americans.”

“I am encouraged and inspired by all faith traditions,” stated Rep. Lamborn. “If someone says to me Happy Hanukkah or something like that, I apply that to my own religion. I’m not offended by that person’s acknowledgement of their religion. And so, we live in a pluralistic society. We need to have more tolerance of the diversity and pluralism of our society.”
