Police: Parents Ask "Church Enforcer" to Beat Son with Pipe
A Southern California man who apparently is used to instill discipline on the children of members of his church is under arrest, accused of beating a teenager with a metal pipe.
The Orange County Register reports that the parents of the 15-year-old found out he had a cigarette lighter. Police say they brought the teen to Paul Kim, who allegedly hit the boy on his legs with the pipe about a dozen times.
Kim and the parents attend the same Lutheran church in La Habra, and investigators think other parents have brought their children to Kim for similar discipline.
Cindy Bachman, spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff Department, said the DA's office will look into the boy's father's role in all of this.
Kim was arrested on suspicion of felony child cruelty and was released on $100,000 bail.
