Pastor Starts Alternative to Halloween: Jesus Ween

| by Michael Allen

Pastor Paul Ade, of Calgary, Canada, has created an alternative to Halloween, a holiday called 'Jesus Ween.'  On Jesus Ween, followers are expected to hand out Bibles and other Christian gifts instead of traditional Halloween fare.

Ade says the problem with Halloween is that "it's an activity that doesn't have anything to do with Christians. And I think many Christian families are not knowledgeable to what it's all about. Halloween is not consistent with the Christian faith. Many people say they feel uncomfortable on that day. We think people should choose an alternative activity."

According to the official website Jesusween.com: "In 2002, Pastor Paul requested 300 copies of New Testament pocket size Bibles from the Bible Society to use for personal evangelism. A few days before Halloween, a word came to him to give out bibles to everyone knocking at his door expecting candy."

"On that day over 40 bibles were given out without him stepping out of his house. All it took was putting a bible into every bag as they opened each bag with a smile. It was much easier than expected and since then God kept on talking to Pastor Paul about how to help Gods people make use of the “Go Ye” instruction every October 31st and on major public holidays. This judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:

"JesusWeen is 'World Evangelism Day' and JesusWin is 'Christ Celebration Week,' even though it is for two weeks. During these two weeks of thanksgiving we would also help the needy amongst us; either through churches or other available charitable organisations that are focused on helping the needy and homeless. JesusWeen is presently more popular in the United States and the UK than expected."
