Pastor Jim Standridge of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Skiatook, Okla., has become an internet star thanks to his angry, bitter rant against his church congregation.
The video (below) entitled "Jim Standridge Throws a Hissy Fit" has almost 100,000 views on YouTube since June 24.
Pastor Standridge starts off his rant on May 19 by yelling at a member of his church for falling asleep during the sermon.
"Son, don't go to sleep while I'm talking," Standridge says. "I'm important. I'm somebody. Now, you might do your English teacher that way, but I'm not teaching English here, I'm teaching eternal life."
He then scolds another church member:
"And where have you been Mr. Underwood?" he says. "I noticed on the calendar I'm supposed to marry you all. What makes you think I'd marry you?" You're one of the sorriest church members I have. You're not worth 15 cents."
He goes on to attack another man and his wife, and a tech person in the "video room."
When asked about his venomous video, Standridge told The Christian Post: "It was a family meeting, not a national meeting, but you can't judge a man by one message. If you knew me, you'd know that I'm a loving, caring guy."
"It was hard [the message], but you can't say it wasn't loving," Standridge added, who describes himself as "an old sovereign grace Baptist with the soul of a Pentecostal."
