Today on "The 700 Club," televangelist Pat Robertson made some patently false statements about the Affordable Care Act that had no basis in reality.
“The government shouldn’t be providing health care," declared Robertson, noted RightWingWatch.org (video below). "That’s not their job. The government should make an opportunity for the private sector to provide [health insurance]."
However, under the ACA, the U.S. government doesn't provide health care but rather regulates the health insurance industry, which still provides health insurance, just as Robertson demands.
The false claim that the ACA is a "government takeover" of the health care system was named the "Lie of the Year" in 2010 by Politifact.org.
“This thing has been an absolute disaster,” Robertson claimed. “The president has been willing to destroy the health supply of our entire nation to accommodate the left-wing, this is left-wing ideology and we’ve got to resist it."

Robertson failed to mention that enrollment in the ACA reached 6 million today, which is above the projected 5 million number of the Obama administration just ten days ago, noted ThinkProgress.org.
That means 6 million previously uninsured Americans will now have health coverage instead of needlessly suffering.
