Matt Barber of the Liberty Counsel recently tweeted the following quote about the upcoming U.S. Supreme Court decision about gay marriage: "If God doesn't soon bring judgment upon America, He'll have to go back and apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah!"

In his tweet, Barber accurately noted that the source of the quote was Ruth Graham, the late wife of the Rev. Billy Graham.

However, Barber did not mention, although GoodAsYou.org did, that the statement was made in 1965, which is 48 years ago.

According to Victorious.org, Ruth was reading over the manuscript for Billy's book, "World Aflame," in 1965. Inside the apocalyptic-sounding book, Billy had written about the sinful conditions in the United States during the sexual revolution of the 1960s.

Apparently, Ruth was so shocked that she told her husband: "Billy, if God doesn't come soon and bring judgment upon the United States, He's going to have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah!"

Ruth's statement has frequently been quoted by many others since the mid-1960s, but not the 1965 date.
