Evangelist Bill Keller: Mormon "Cult" is as Christian as Islam
ST PETERSBURG, FL -- Bill Keller, the world's leading Internet Evangelist and the founder of LivePrayer.com, with over 2.4 million subscribers worldwide reading the Daily Devotional he has written every morning for 12 years on the issues of the day from a Biblical worldview, is calling on Mormon cult member Mitt Romney to quit lying about being a Christian! Keller made national news in 2007 for his now infamous quote, "a vote for Romney is a vote for Satan!" He has demanded that Mormon Presidential candidate Mitt Romney quit lying to people that he is a Christian.
Keller applauds First Baptist Dallas Pastor Robert Jeffress for caring enough about the eternal souls of men to publicly state the truth that Mormonism is a cult. Keller says, "The fact is, the beliefs and teachings of the satanically inspired Mormon cult are totally inconsistent with Biblical Christianity. Romney and Mormons use the words 'god' and 'jesus,' yet the god and jesus of the Mormon cult are NOT the God and Jesus of the Bible! They view the Bible as a flawed and incomplete book usurped by the writings of their cults founder, Joseph Smith, who history shows was a racist, pedophile, polygamist, and murder!"
Keller continues, "Mormon doctrine teaches their 'god' used to be a human who rose to god-like status, just like Romney and all Mormons believe they will too after their death. The 'jesus' of the Mormon cult is the natural offspring of their 'god' Elohim who had sex with Mary, meaning their 'jesus' is a created being and NOT a deity as the Bible teaches, and is the brother of Lucifer."
Keller concludes, "I could care less what fantasies Romney and those in his cult choose to believe, but I do care that they lie to people saying they are a Christian, when a person who believes in the teachings of the Mormon cult are no more a Christian than a Muslim is. Most appalling are prominent Christians who have sold out the faith to help Romney and other Mormons perpetuate their lie that they are Christians, aiding that cult to lead ignorant souls to hell for eternity.
Keller said that he is not worried about being politically correct since at stake are the eternal souls of men. "According to the Bible, not Bill Keller" said Keller, "those who believe in a false Gospel like the Mormon's teach, will die and be in hell for all eternity." Keller has challenged Romney and another high profile member of the Mormon cult, Glenn Beck, to a public debate about Mormon doctrine, but those challenges have gone unanswered since "they will never publicly debate a Christian theologian about what their cult teaches since it would stop their ability to lie to the public that they are a Christian."

I find this particular debate completely uninteresting except for one aspect: finding out the Book of Mormon stories I grew up with were fraudulent made it much easier to perceive the fraudulent nature of the Bible. Both books are the creation of humans, riddled with falsehoods, and not worth my time.
For those here who would honestly like answers/clarification to the questions, comments, and strange rumors that they have heard about the Mormon church, check out my blog: http://mormonsthebigdeal.blogspot.com/ There is only one rule regarding posting: crude comments (or soap boxes) regarding any race, religion, gender, or culture is not permitted. Respect always accomplishes more than hate.
I agree Religions have done good but the derisive affects on humanity greatly out way the good deeds. Do undo others and other altruistic tendencies are in our genes the product of Evolution. Thou shall not murder has been in our moral code of conduct long before the Ten Commandments, of which only four have any application to the the human condition. Religions are judged by their leaders and laws of beliefs, not by individual members who may have good intentions but are powerless to prevent the Inquisition .

Well... 75% of the US is christian, and about 85% believe in god, and another 8-10% are agnostic. Call religion BS is yelling at the majority of the country and telling them they are stupid. That's an approach that won't change many minds. I believe in showing people that you can be a good person, be happy, and get along without having religion. The US is shifting, but it will take at least two generations before the balance tilts the other way.
CRW....I think the vast majority of the 80% christian's are in name only................They belong to church for political and social aspects and most know......................... "Faith is something you have when you know it ain't true" Mark Twain.

Your right I should moderate My language and stick to the facts. Thanks for your advice.

Here are the characteristics of a cult: • Small? The Church of Jesus Christ (LDS) has 14 million members in 132 countries. In America, there are more Mormons than there are Presbyterians or Jews. • Excessive devotion? Mormons are devoted to the Savior, but in appropriate measure He would approve of. • Unethical techniques? Ask the pie-throwers to name one. • Control by isolation? Even if Mormons wanted to, this would be impossible with 14 million members in 28,000 congregations throughout the world. • Control by threats? Again, evidence? Mormon missionaries may be exuberant, but do not threaten. • Dependency on the group? The Church of Jesus Christ (LDS) is just the opposite. Mormons want members to be self-reliant and independent so they in turn can help others. • Powerful group pressure? Only if that’s the way the critics prefer to define love. • Strange? Guilty as charged. Mormons plead guilty to all the strange things that were done by Christians in New Testament times that were lost during the great falling away in the aptly named Dark Ages, among them temple worship, vicarious baptism for the dead, definition of God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit as separate but united in purpose, salvation requiring both grace and obedience to commandments, prophets and apostles, unpaid clergy, and continual revelation to guide His Church.
Oh you forgot to mention the magic underwear they are required to wear to ward off evil spirits, which can only be purchase from the Mormon Church. How about the practice of shunning of members who stray from their beliefs, which includes family who must shun their relatives. The Mormon Church differs little from other Religions in that it indoctrinates children who have not reach the age of reason. If you were born in Saudi Arabia you would be discussing the Infidels of western culture.

Dear Charles Huffman,
Just to clarify: All Mormon members are encouraged to find out the truth for themselves and not just lean on what they were "indoctrinated" with as a child or what their parents taught them. They believe that, as in the parable to the Ten Virgins, each individual must have "oil in their own lamps," as it were.
Also, it is definitely NOT a practice of the church to shun "wayward" members. Anyone who does this in the church is not living in accordance with the doctrine of Christ to "Love thy neighbor as thyself." If you go do lds.org, you will be able to find countless articles by LDS church leaders reiterating the importance of that timeless teaching. Anyone who might have told you that shunning is required or even accepted in the Mormon church was very wrong.
I hope that this clarified some things for you. :)
If there is anything that you would like clarification on, feel free to post on my blog at mormonsthebigdeal.blogspot.com

Dear CommonSenseSpeaks....Just to clarify that Mormons shun.............Mormons have no doctrine of disconnection, but we do nonetheless have some tendencies toward a practice of shunning. The closest thing to an institutional basis for such a practice that I can find is the following question from our temple recommend interviews:....................................................
"Do you support, affiliate with, or agree with any group or individual whose teachings or practices are contrary to or oppose those accepted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints"?...........................................................................................
For most of my adult life, I’ve had a difficult time with the way that question is worded. It includes, among its many permutations, the question, “Do you affiliate with any individual whose practices are contrary to those accepted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?”................................................. Since we’re all sinners, I think the answer to that question would be “yes” for everyone on Earth. But, somewhat more seriously, I’ve always had friends and family members who are, in the oh-so-imprecise vernacular, anti-Mormons................................................ Am I unworthy of admission to the temple because I “affiliate with” them, in the sense of spending social time with them and caring (sometimes deeply) about them?............................. I always raise this point in every interview; the interviewer always dismisses it. Nonetheless, I worry that the wording of this question may suggest to some members that we aren’t supposed to associate with people who leave the church or lose their faith......................................................
In practice, I know from many experiences–first-, second-, and third-hand–that people who lose faith and leave the church are often shunned....................................................................................... Some people divorce their spouses, giving no motive other than change in religious belief.................................................... Family members refuse to attend weddings, cut people off from family gatherings, and even cease communications altogether with “apostates” who were once near and dear to them.............................. In our much less intimate online relationships, do we ever replicate this painful pattern? I worry that we do........................................................................Mormon children are indoctrinated from early in life.................How can you expect them to seek the truth..................Except through the "Book Of Mormon".
