Duggar Family Pastor: God Can 'Forgive Everything'

| by Michael Allen

Dr. Ronnie Floyd is the pastor of the Pinnacle Cross Church in Rogers, Arkansas, where the Duggar family attends services.

Floyd recently spoke out on the allegations that Josh Duggar molested five underage girls, some of them his sisters, while a teen in 2002-2003.

Floyd told PEOPLE:

Everyone does wrong, and what was wrong was very wrong as to what was testified to and it's completely unacceptable.

But I'm thankful, whether it's him or any other one, that I serve a God who can forgive everything.

All of us were surprised by the news because ... their reputation in Arkansas is that they are a very Christian family.

Floyd added that his "evangelical Christian ministry is alive and well," and "Things like [the scandal] have happened before and will happen again."

Floyd told his congregation on Sunday: "You dads, make sure you raise your sons around men who are manly."

Floyd also preached about Bruce Jenner's male to female transition: "What's remarkable about this is the world is applauding. Gender is not fluid.''

"Bruce Jenner is no different from all of us. We are all sinners. The key is cleansing our sins through Christ's grace," Floyd stated.

Boz Tchividjian, a grandson of the Rev. Billy Graham, had some stronger words for the Duggar situation.

Tchividjian told The Christian Post:

[A]ll too often the response of the Christian community is contrary to this beautiful Gospel.

This is done when the safety and care of abuse victims is sacrificed in order to protect the reputations of individuals and institutions.

This sacrifice is most commonly demonstrated through ignoring or marginalizing victims and protecting offenders.

Tchividjian, executive director of the group Godly Response to Abuse in the Christian Environment, added:

The Duggar situation has been a tragic reminder to all of us about the necessity of immediately reporting sexual abuse to the proper authorities, regardless of the age of the offender or whether or not the crime occurred inside or outside of the home.
