Dr. Ben Carson Says God Will Decide if He Runs for President (Video)

Dr. Ben Carson's recent remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast caused many conservatives, including the Wall Street Journal, to call for him to run for president in 2016 (video below).

The pediatric neurosurgeon appeared on ABC's 'This Week' where he mentioned the overwhelming response that he has received, but added that it was up to God if he ran for president.

“Before I gave that talk, I prayed and asked God to give me wisdom, what to say, what would resonate what would be important,” Dr. Carson said.

Dr. Carson claimed that his call for a ten percent flat tax at the prayer breakfast came from the biblical concept of tithing, reports

However, the bible never advocates ten percent for a rate of tax, but rather the amount the children of Israel were supposed to tithe in the bible.

“I don’t want to sit here and say all [President Obama's] policies are bad, said Dr. Carson. "But what I would like to see more often is this nation is an open and intelligent conversation, not just people casting aspersions at each other.”

When asked if he would run for president, Dr. Carson responded:  “It’s not my intention, but as I always say in every part of my life, I’ll leave that up to God.”

Dr. Carson did not speculate on exactly how God would notify him to run for office.
