Christian Mom At War With Illinois Library Over Porn (Video)

| by Michael Allen

Megan Fox, a Christian mom and creationist, made news last year when she recorded an angry video criticizing an evolution exhibit at Chicago's Field Museum of Natural History.

Fox's video (below) went viral and was widely mocked on the web, noted RawStory.com.

However, Fox is getting the last laugh.

She and Kevin DuJan sued the Orland Park Public Library in Illinois (near Chicago) last fall for allegedly violating the Freedom of Information law and Illinois' open meetings law, reported Patch.com.

The lawsuit was part of Fox and Kevin DuJan's battle against the library for allowing patrons to watch Internet porn on library computers, noted the Chicago Tribune.

Fox, Dujan and their attorneys recently got a $55,000 settlement from the library because their many public records requests were not answered by the library fast enough.

The Chicago Tribune says that 133 requests came from Fox, Dujan or other people using the same email address, all wanting information about library policies, employees, expenses and a red outfit worn by a library trustee.

Library officials said last year that the requests took up 35 hours a week  and were handled by two employees; those costs and the library's legal fees reached $125,000.

Fox and DuJan reportedly claimed they were with the media and needed the library to respond quickly in order to make their deadlines.

In addition to the $55,000 settlement, the library has agreed to set up a procedures for handling future requests from Fox and DuJan. Some of the responses will have to be completed by a specific deadline. The library did not admit to any wrongdoing in the settlement.
