The Traditional Values Coalition, a conservative Christian group, recently launched an online campaign to stop the Fairfax County School Board in Virginia from including "gender identity" as a protected group that could not be discriminated against.
The Traditional Values Coalition claims on its website that the non-discrimination policy will mean bathrooms and locker rooms could be used by transgendered people, children who are homeschooled and attend Christian schools (which are private, not public) will likely be affected and parents won't be able to pull their kids out of a class taught by a transgender teacher.
Andrea Lafferty, who is with the Traditional Values Coalition, appeared on Sandy Rios' Christian radio show today where she expressed the group's opposition to transgender teachers, noted RightWingWatch.org (video below).
"These individuals are psychologically unhealthy and they shouldn’t be in teaching in the class," Lafferty said.
Popular VideoThis young teenage singer was shocked when Keith Urban invited her on stage at his concert. A few moments later, he made her wildest dreams come true.
Lafferty said that transgender children could be allowed, but the kids would have to use a single-stall bathroom where they can lock the door.
Lafferty claimed she had "great compassion" for transgender adults and children.
She later went on to say that a pro-transgender advocate said at a Fairfax County School Board meeting that transgender people "are more likely to commit suicide."
