Tonight on 'The Daily Show,' host Jon Stewart and his team of correspondents speculated on who might replace Pope Benedict XVI, who announced today that he would step down in February.
According to Mediaite.com, 'The Daily Show' Senior Vatican Correspondent Samantha Bee reported: “The Pope is starting to question a long-term relationship with someone he talks to all the time, but has never actually met.”
Stewart and 'The Daily Show' Senior Catholic Correspondent John Oliver tried to predict who would replace the Pope, with choices such as GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney and Texas Governor Rick Perry.
Oliver added that Pope Benedict XVI would pull a “full Leno” and try to return to his post after the Catholic Church brings in a younger Pope. “And if that happens, I’m going full Team Popo on this,” said Oliver.
