American Atheists Announces New "Myth" Billboard Campaign
American Atheists announced today that their new billboard is going up in several locations nationwide, including the New Jersey side of the Lincoln Tunnel: the same location as last year’s famous “You KNOW it’s a MYTH” billboard. The new billboard will also be going up in Ohio and Florida.
This year’s holiday season billboard features pictures of Neptune, Jesus, Santa Claus, and the Devil and says, “37 Million Americans know MYTHS when they see them. What do you see?”
Full Size Dave Silverman, President of American Atheists, said, “Last year’s MYTH billboard was incredibly successful and garnered a lot more attention than we conceived. This year’s billboard should be equally thought-provoking and spark plenty of conversations nationally, but especially in New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Florida.”
Mr. Silverman continued, “The Florida billboards will also be advertising our upcoming convention in December in Fort Lauderdale. It is going to be an amazing convention with great speakers and this billboard will help promote it to atheists in Florida.”
Blair Scott, Communications Director for American Atheists, stated, “Every year groups like The Catholic League and American Family Association told Americans about a war on Christmas that simply did not exist. Last year we thought we would give them what they seemed to want and fired the first shot in the war on Christmas. To both groups we say, ‘Happy Holidays!’”
Mr. Scott continued, “Offending people is not our goal, but we know people are going to be offended. When you question someone’s long-held beliefs and doctrine they are going to be immediately offended and be on the defensive: it’s a known psychological phenomenon.”

Since the bible was written
Since the bible was written by people that thought the earth was the center of the universe, was flat and were willing to torture people to death that didn't agree with their insanity, pretty much the christians should have ZERO say in anything.
Since their book was written by psychopaths and morons it doesn't say much for the followers. What a pity suicide is a sin... :-)
Those that can't or won't defend themselves can only be slaves.
Sneaker enthusiasts
Sneaker enthusiasts throughout the land Air Yeezy are gifting themselves an early Christmas present tonight and early tomorrow Jordan Cmft Viz Air 13 with the most anticipated sneaker release of the year. Of course, we’re referring to the Air Jordan 13, a shoe steeped in Michael Jordan lore, as they were the kicks His Airness would wear upon his return to the NBA during the 1995 playoffs following a brief retirement.Design notes like the shiny black patent leather mudguard and translucent sole made the shoe a sensation as soon as Women Jordans stepped on the court. That they weren’t anywhere near the production Cheap True Religion Jeans stage and furthermore represented an NBA dress code violation that resulted in MJ’s being fined $5,000 just added True Religion Outlet to the legend. That legend continues tonight, when hordes of online Air Jordans shoppers will migrate to Web outlets like Nikestore.com at 12 am ET along with those waiting in line right now to fulfill their ultimate Christmas UGG Boots Outlet wish list with a piece of NBA history, not to mention North Face Outlet a singularly attractive pair of sneakers.
Wow 21 pages of controversy
Wow 21 pages of controversy on a subject based on personal beliefs. Beliefs are what they are. Some are based on incomplete facts and some are based on incomplete fiction but all are based on the needs of the believer.
The Catholic, Jews, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, agnostic, atheist etc... All have beliefs because they need them to get through the day to day process of living. It doesn't matter what can be proved or not proved because beliefs are power to the individual believer. I am always amazed when people use force to try to convince other people that their beliefs are the best. It is like arguing about who has the best imaginary friend.
Voltaire put it best
“If you can get people to believe absurdities, You can convince them to perform atrocities.”
Shadow boxing with your beliefs is a true absurdity and we clearly don’t need any more atrocities.
So let’s leave the atheist and the Christians and the Muslims and the Buddhist etc. to their beliefs and everyone go back to thinking about really timely and important things like when will I get a job or where is my next meal coming from or how will I keep my family warm this winter. The big stuff!

@jodantes.....You've got it
@jodantes.....You've got it wrong, Atheism is not a belief, its a denial of the assertion that a god or gods exits.........This is based on logic, reason and a total lack of evidence to support the assertion.............The only reason someone is called an atheist is because there are so many people who believe in myths, like Christians..........There is no name for people who don't believe in the Easter bunny, etc.
Chuck
Chuck, believing in nothing
Chuck, believing in nothing is the same as believing in something. A lack of belief, or denial as you call it, is still a belief. God cannot be proven and that is why it is called a belief and not science or fact. What I don't understand is why people want to identify with a group of similar believers or non-believers. Why does anyone care if a person is a Christian, Muslim, Jew or someone without theism, visa vie atheist. In a zero sum world why bother arguing for or against what cannot be proven.
Perhaps it is because most religious believers test each other’s beliefs in search of a common Morality. Fortunately Religion and Morality have nothing in common. Religion is man-made "Force" and Morality is universal "Power". A “Force” of any kind requires a “Counter-Force” to exist and we see this in the disagreements and hatred initiated over different religious beliefs. A “Power” stands alone in the universe and requires nothing more than itself to exist.
As Time is constant I suggest that we all just enjoy the moments and embrace the morality because our current reality will end when we least expect it.

@jodantec.......You are
@jodantec.......You are wrong............... Beliefs come in two forms, most commonly a belief is just a personal opinion............... A belief can also be presented as a claim, or even a guess, about what is factually true..............................An Atheist denies the theist assertion of the supernatural on the basis of, Lack of empirical evidence, logic and reasoning....................If the Theist presents empirical evidence of the existence of the supernatural an Atheist would immediately become a theist...............However no amount of data would convince a theists that their position is not valid.

"the fossil record doesn't even back evolution. Atheist and scientist have so much to lose if evolution is false." But evolution isn't false; to base your beliefs on proving science wrong is akin to those who refused to believe the world was not flat.

Excellent point. I am glad you have seen through the grand "conspiracy" by 99% of biologists who state evolution is absolutely true. I took biology class in high school and the teacher stated to me, when no one else was listening, "you know Jerome, evolution is fake, we scientists invented it so we can defend having wild origes without a god condemning us." See, you know too much. Indeed, maybe there will be a book written about you by Dan Brown (of the Da Vinci Code). I am sure you are quite an expert on evolution, more so than Stephen Jay Gould was, or Richard Dawkins.

Wow, it is starling to realize someone believes the fossil record does not support evolution, but instead better supports creationism or ID. Folks like Percy read some science, then read the BS from the intelligent design institutes, but never read and understood the scientific response to the ID deception.

Christianity mythology is
Christianity mythology is such a ridiculous belief system that there's no reason anyone would need to bother proving it wrong. I mean really with all the unicorns, zombies, man-swallowing fishes, talking snakes, magical trees, talking donkeys, giants, monsters, flying horses, talking bushes, magical sexless pregnancies and all that other supernatural BS, a person would have to be either brainwashed, indoctrinated or a complete idiot to believe in that stuff.

What's ironic is comparing
What's ironic is comparing everyone's claims on the bible to the actual text. It is claimed to be the best book ever written, but the messages are usually either wrong, shallow, trite, or incredibly simplistic. Preachers will claim "oh no, you just don't understand it sonny". Then drop something deep. They never do, and the little messages outside their church are some iteration on "No Jesus, No Peace, Know Jesus, Know Peace". The best books with recognized human authors, with no supernatural pretense, are so much better than the bible. The bible is like a lame science fiction novel.

To continue this conversation
To continue this conversation in any meaningful way, it is necessary for others to be familiar with the material that is the basis of my original post. As I am the the only one to have printed out and studied this teaching and have now decided to test the efficacy of the claim, to have a conversation with anyone not so informed makes jest of any rational discussion or investigation. I am more than happy to continue on that basis.

Chuck
No, seriously, you've told us
No, seriously, you've told us all we need to know that any conversation with you is going to be without meaning. "Evidence is available by an act of faith" is a self-contradictory statement. You claim that "it is itself a testable proof of God for faith," but then you again contradict yourself by invoking perceptions and emotions. Emotions and subjective perceptions are not a path to truth. Faith has no capacity to distinguish truth from delusion. If that's the basis for your religion, I don't need to read some screed that, if its hosting website is any indication, will probably be totally incoherent. To say nothing of the fact that you keep spamming the URL to that godawful website--it tells me you're not interested in discussion, but only proselytizing one more flavor of religion, indistinguishable from all the rest. You're SO done.
It most certainly is not
It most certainly is not necessary to deeply study foolishness to see that it is foolishness, when a quick glance tells me all I need to know. As an atheist, I do not need to study every religion, sect, and cult when I have already rejected the premise that a God or gods exist. I would have no time for other pursuits.
Good gods, one can look at
Good gods, one can look at evolution and say the same thing, It's foolishness.
There is overwhelming
There is overwhelming evidence for evolution.

Has anyone else contacted OV to tell them that nothing about their commenting structure makes sense? Let me see: can't format comments at all, indentation structure does not make sense and randomly changes, order of comments will randomly shuffle, half the time you need to search through all comment pages to find a new comment you are alerted to, am I missing anything? Place is cool, or I would be out. What's maddening is that these things must be easy as other smaller sites get it right repeatedly. Sorry, had to vent.
You are unwilling to even
You are unwilling to even provide a thumbnail sketch for us. Most people will not humor you by spending their time to research something offsite so that they can discuss it with you here.
I would suggest you have
I would suggest you have misunderstood. If the Resurrection of Jesus had or has meaning, it was to demonstrate that not only is there a God but one who is prepared to intervene directly into the natural world to accomplish his will and confirm absolutely the reality of his existence. In the case of this new teaching, his 'will' is to create a new moral reality within the human condition that can only exists by the expression of divine omnipotence. The experience of this expression is our Resurrection, the goal, proof and justification of faith.
Theology only exists because nothing has been revealed!
"If the Resurrection of Jesus
"If the Resurrection of Jesus had or has meaning..."
That's all I need to read to make up my mind about what you're pushing here.
Ah, but your mind was made up
Ah, but your mind was made up before you read his post, good sir.
How many times should I
How many times should I reexamine something that I have already rejected without any new evidence?
Matthew
Matthew 5:17..............Jesus strongly approves of the law and the prophets. He hasn't the slightest objection to the cruelties of the Old Testament.......................................... Matthew 7:13-14 .............Jesus says that most people will go to hell.................
Matthew 8:21.............. Jesus tells a man who had just lost his father: "Let the dead bury the dead." ................................................ Matthew 10:21..............................Families will be torn apart because of Jesus (this is one of the few "prophecies" in the Bible that has actually come true). "Brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death." ............................................... MARK 4:11-12 ...........................Jesus explains why he speaks in parables: to confuse people so they will go to hell.

It seems god doesn't like
It seems god doesn't like people who demand good evidence before forming a belief.
Quite the contrary. You are
Quite the contrary. You are absolutely right to demand and expect evidence for any truth claim and true religion can only begin when that direct, testable evidence is available. And now it is, by an act of faith, for anyone who wants it! The only difference being that the search for this evidence based proof is not of human intellectual origin and so demands an act of faith to confirm and secure it. Easier done then said! http://www.energon.org.uk
Theology only exists because nothing has been revealed!
Please be more clear. Are
Please be more clear. Are you basically saying "try it out and see what happens in your perceptions or emotions?" I assume that is the type of testability you are suggesting. How I feel once I've tried convince myself something is true is not evidence. Evidence not understandable by the human mind is not evidence at all. If I am wrong, please describe a simple, repeatable experiment that experiment that supports your claims.
More clear. A new
More clear. A new interpretation of the gospel or moral teaching of Christ now exists. It is of itself a testable proof of God for faith, the first in known history. While perceptions and emotions are certainly involved, there in much more direct evidence to be discovered in a literal intervention: "correcting human nature by a change in natural law, altering biology, consciousness and human ethical perception beyond all natural evolutionary boundaries."
I'm testing it now myself. There is not the space to offer a full explanation here, but at the link provided, if your sufficiently interested, you can download the teaching and study it for yourself. And it does require careful study. It's a free pdf file. If you get that far, come back to me and we can compare notes chapter by chapter. One of the download sites is: http://www.energon.org.uk
Theology only exists because nothing has been revealed!
The involvement of of
The involvement of of perceptions and emotions necessarily are untestable evidences. You're DONE.
I see nothing more direct and
I see nothing more direct and testable than one more crackpot website so that the padded room next to the Timecube guy has someone to keep him company. If I have to read through that eye-scalding website, then download and *print* a PDF on the promise (not much credibility I'm here to tell ya) that it will eventually make sense, I'm going to conclude it's more likely there's mental illness here rather than universal truth. But by all means, summarize your position, tell me what the evidence is, and if it holds water maybe I'll think about going through the rigmarole.
1. You can't prove the
1. You can't prove the resurrection. Your evidence is not extraordinary enough to justify belief in this extraordinary claim. Many people/deities have been claimed to rise from the dead throughout history, why do you only believe in one? 2. Even if people thought Jesus was dead, he was taken down from the cross, and then appeared to be re-animated; how does that prove that there is a god and all the other things you claim?

Atheists have a strong
Atheists have a strong intellectual position and they're going to exploit it. Two thousand years of religious claims and humanity has no greater insight in the question of God then it ever had. If all knowledge claims worked the same way, our species would still be back in the stone age, and there's the rub. Two competing conceptions of knowledge but only one that is able to demonstrate the efficacy of their insights. Yet these two apparently opposing camps my be no more than two sides of the same coin of profound unknowing. Both dishonest within their own corners of intellectual fashion, one fills it with theological doublethink while the other has been foolish enough to draw and defend its conclusions that there is no God.
It may very well come to pass, that all sides of the God question and history itself have it wrong! The first wholly new interpretation for two thousand years of the moral teachings of Christ is published on the web. Radically different from anything else we know of from history, this new teaching is predicated upon a precise and predefined experience, a direct individual intervention into the natural world by omnipotent power to confirm divine will, command and covenant, "correcting human nature by a change in natural law, altering biology, consciousness and human ethical perception beyond all natural evolutionary boundaries." So like it of no, a new religious claim testable by faith, meeting all Enlightenment criteria of evidence and causation now exists. Nothing short of a religious revolution appears to be getting under way. Both religious and atheist feathers should be flying soon! More at http://www.energon.org.uk
