Air Force Academy Caves to "Anti-Christian" Activist
Talk about bullying; Mikey Weinstein has them all beat. He has now played Grinch to thousands of needy children around the world. How? The outspoken anti-Christian activist has browbeaten the U.S. Air Force Academy into dropping Franklin Graham's "Operation Christmas Child."
Why? Because the long-time project of Rev. Graham's Samaritan's Purse ministry provides shoeboxes to hundreds of thousands of needy children around the world with Scripture messages. The shoeboxes contain toys, toiletries, and messages of hope. They note the boxes are sent from the love of Christ. The charity effort had been spearheaded by compassionate Air Force cadets. The Christian cadets want to share from the bounty we enjoy in America. All that was enough to raise Mikey Weinstein's hackles. Mr. Weinstein runs something called the Military Religious Freedom Foundation. They're all for "religious freedom"-- unless it happens to be Christian. A secular toy drive would be OK, Weinstein said.
Backing down, the Air Force Academy dropped the charity but will allow the institution's chaplains to continue to collect contributions -- for now. This is a part of Weinstein's long running crusade against Evangelicals at the Air Force Academy. Unfortunately, military leaders are all too ready to retreat in this brave new anti-Christian, anti-American environment created by President Obama and his Administration. I weighed in on this story earlier today over at FoxNews.com.

The FRC is being disingenuous
The FRC is being disingenuous to say that it was anti-christian. What it was is a violation of the 1st Amendment of the United States Constitution. Which the Air Force recognized and corrected.

What Christians like the FRC
What Christians like the FRC need to realize is that if you're getting a backrub, and the backrub stops, they don't get to claim that lack-of-backrub constitutes assault. "Backrub" being the G-rated description of the favors religion regularly gets from the government.
Unfortunately, military
Unfortunately, military leaders are all too ready to retreat in this brave new anti-Christian, anti-American environment created by President Obama and his Administration.
This is why we need a new president. Hopefully our upcoming election sees Obama kicked out the door and a new real christian president put in his place. He's all for religious freedom but in this country you're supposed to be a christian before you can even run for president and u have to be sweared in. Everyone saw him lay his hand on the bible at his inauguration so now he's just being fake.

Mucker, don't know about you
Mucker, don't know about you but when I served in Vietnam, a belief that "...military leaders are all too ready to retreat in this brave new anti-Christian, anti-American environment created by President Obama and his Administration." would have either driven me to - well I won't answer that.
Don't like Obama? ... don't like the Constitution's explicit separation of church and state? Yep, not those words, but EVERY interpretation from Jefferson & Madison through the current Supreme Court recognizes it as a fundamental tenet.
Focus on your dislike. Politicians, Constitution, "your way", and choose one battle.
Is Operation Christmas Child a program for the underprivileged or a program for proselytizing?
If I offer a ten-spot to a homeless person, does that "entitle" me to comment on her/his life choice/circumstance?
Not for me,
Dennis
Mucker,...... Your comment
Mucker,...... Your comment cannot be taken seriously by any reasonable person. The bigotry and hate you espoused was nauseating.

"in this country you're
"in this country you're supposed to be a christian before you can even run for president and u have to be sweared in."===================================================================What?! Are you completely ignorant of the Constitution? Article VI, "all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath OR AFFIRMATION, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States." Besides, Obama never saw an opportunity to promote Christianity that he didn't like. When it comes to separation of church and state, he's nearly as bad as the last guy. Where the religious right comes up with this nutball narrative of Obama as the supreme secularist is truly mind boggling.
I wished the FRC would state
I wished the FRC would state why Mr. Weinstein founded his organization, which I list myself as a proud contributor. It is because Christian fundamentalist cadets (the kind of people who support the FRC) stated to Mr. Weinstein's son (who is Jewish) that Jews killed Jesus. Not once, but numerous times. Is this the love and tolerance that the FRC wishes to endorse? Frankly, for a Christian organization, I am also amazed at their obsession with the sex lives of gay men. Frankly, I find it very weird and strange. This is an organization built on disdain and fear of different groups. Feminists, gays, atheists and probably environmentalists. It's just weird.
