‘American Idol’ Asks Colton Dixon to Tone Down His Christianity

| by Michael Allen

Singer Colton Dixon claims that the producers of 'American Idol' have warned him to tone down his Christianity.

While performing White Lion’s “Broken Heart” on Wednesday’s show, the 20 year old wore a bracelet that contains a line from the bible: “For I know the plans I have for you ... plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Dixon told Today.com: “When we first started the Twitter and Facebook stuff, they said beware of political and religious tweets. Just because it can turn off voters or whatever. But, you know, being a Christian is who I am. It is a part of me musically. It is what I want to do after the show — go into Christian music.”

Dixon also prays before every performance: “I wake up and I do devotional every morning. It reminds me why I am here, which is to share the love of God.”
