Christian leader and radio host Dr. James Dobson recently said that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump had converted to Christianity.

Dobson, who was one of the evangelical leaders who met Trump on June 21, told Pennsylvania pastor Michael Anthony in an interview that Trump was a recent convert, so Christians had to cut him some slack, notes WorldNet Daily.

"[H]e did accept a relationship with Christ," Dobson stated. "I know the person who led him to Christ – that’s fairly recent. I don’t know when it was, but it has not been long. I believe he really made a commitment, but he’s a baby Christian."

"You got to cut him some slack," Dobson added. "He didn’t grow up like we did."

Anthony referenced the conversion of Saul to the Apostle Paul: "He didn’t know the language either."

"I think there’s hope for him," Dobson stated. "And I think there’s hope for us."

The Trump campaign has not commented on Dobson's assertion, but Dobson noted on his website:

Only the Lord knows the condition of a person’s heart. I can only tell you what I’ve heard. First, Trump appears to be tender to things of the Spirit. I also hear that Paula White has known Trump for years and that she personally led him to Christ. Do I know that for sure? No. Do I know the details of that alleged conversion? I can’t say that I do. But there are many Christian leaders who are serving on a faith advisory committee for Trump in the future. I am among them.

White is a televangelist and pastor of the New Destiny Christian Center and Without Walls International Church in Apopka, Florida.

White made news in April when she asked an unidentified viewer to give her $1,144 for a "resurrection life," noted The Christian Post:

There's someone that God is speaking to, to click on that donation button by minimizing the screen. And when you do to sow $1,144. It's not often I ask very specifically but God has instructed me and I want you to hear. This isn't for everyone but this is for someone. When you sow that $1,144 based on John 11:44 I believe for resurrection life.

You say, Paula, I just don't have that, then sow $144. I don't have that. Sow $44 but stand on John Chapter 11:44.

And when you do, there are prayer cloths that we have anointed that we have prayed over, that are going to be a point of contact. In Acts 19, the Bible says, Paul prayed over these prayer cloths and they brought forth special miracles, signs and wonders.

There have been times that I have taken prayer cloths that have been anointed as a point of contact. I put them in my loved ones sneakers, I put them under their bed. I put them on parts of my body that I believe God for healing.
