After a Creationist-supported billboard went up earlier this week in New York City, Atheist activists have responded with one of their own.
The Blaze reports that the latest Atheist billboard signage went up on Friday in Times Square in New York City. The digital sign includes a picture of Julia Sweeney, an actress and former “Saturday Night Live” cast member. Next to Sweeney’s is a quote that reads, ““OMG, there is no god!”
“A fifth of the U.S. population identifies as nonbelievers. We don’t thank a nonexistent god, we put faith in each other and human ingenuity,” FFRF Co-President Annie Laurie Gaylor said in a news release. “We believe in deeds, not creeds. We believe the only afterlife that ought to concern us is leaving our descendants a secure and pleasant future.”
Earlier this week, CNN reported that a new video billboard in New York's Times Square has a message from creationists, "To all of our atheist friends: THANK GOD YOU’RE WRONG."

That video ad was one of a few going up this week in big cities, including New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles and was paid for by Answers in Genesis.
The president of Answers in Genesis said the idea for the advertisements came from an atheist billboard in Times Square at Christmas.
“The Bible says to contend for the faith,” Ken Ham said. “We thought we should come up with something that would make a statement in the culture, a bold statement, and direct them to our website.
"We're not against them personally. We're not trying to attack them personally, but we do believe they're wrong," he said.
