This morning the Toronto Raptors announced their 11-man roster for the 2010 Las Vegas Summer League.

Headlining the roster are 2010 first-round draft pick Ed Davis and second-round pick Solomon Alabi. They will be joined three players from the team last season in DeMar DeRozan, Sonny Weems and Joey Dorsey.

Having the trio of DeRozan, Weems and Dorsey in the mix shows just how dedicated the young guys are to learning and growing. All have been in Toronto at different times this summer working with the coaching staff and Vegas will provide them with a chance to implement some new things into their arsenals.

DeRozan is coming off a solid rookie campaign where he averaged 8.6 points and 2.9 rebounds during 77 appearances. He set career-highs in points (24), field goals (9), rebounds (14) and minutes (38) during the season finale April 14 against New York and is going to be looked upon to have a big contribution on the court next season for Toronto.

Weems had a break-out year for the Raptors, averaging a career-high 7.5 points in 69 games. Weems started the final 12 games of the season posting 13.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and shooting a sizzling 55.8% from the field.

This will be Weems’ third time playing in the Las Vegas Summer League as he played for Denver last season, averaging 16.6 points. In five games for the Nuggets entry in the 2008 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Weems averaged 9.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in 22.2 minutes.

Rounding out the roster are guards Bobby Brown (Cal-State Fullerton), Curtis Stinson (Iowa State), Michael Roll (UCLA) and Ronald Dupree (LSU).

The bigs invited include Joey Dorsey (Memphis), Cheick Samb (Senegal) and James Mayes (Clemson).

Eric Hughes has been assigned summer league head coaching duties for a third consecutive year. He will be joined by assistants Micah Nori and Alvin Williams.

Toronto opens its summer league schedule Friday, July 10 against Phoenix at 4 p.m EST.
