NCAA Football: Could Tyler Gabbert be Coming to Louisville?

| by

With all the attention given to Louisville basketball possibly taking a transfer or two, Charlie Strong’s football Cardinals could also be in the mix for a talented transfer.

Former four-star quarterback Tyler Gabbert, younger brother of first round draft pick Blaine Gabbert, is transferring from Missouri. Why could he be interested in Louisville you ask? Because current UofL quarterbacks coach Shawn Watson is very close to the Gabbert family and even secured a commitment from Tyler while he was coaching at Nebraska. Tyler eventually headed to Mizzou because Nebraska switched their offense to more of a power running game.

Coming out of high school, Tyler Gabbert, 6-0 and 190 lbs, was rated the 17th best signal caller in the 2010 class according to Rivals and the 12th best QB according to Scout. He redshirted last season at Missouri and competed for the starting job during the Spring, but after a sub-par performance in the Spring game it became apparent he was behind for the top spot at the quarterback position. Tyler is more of a pro-style quarterback, but athletic enough to run the spread.

This news just broke today so it’s mostly just speculation as to where Gabbert will end up, but I think it’s fair to say with the relationship between the Gabbert family and Shawn Watson, and the UofL QB situation, the Cards will get a hard look from Tyler.
