Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump warned of "riots" on March 16 if he is not the GOP nominee for president (video below).

Trump won GOP primaries in Florida, Illinois, North Carolina and Missouri on March 15, but not Ohio, which went to Republican presidential candidate Gov. John Kasich of Ohio.

Kasich told the "TODAY" show on March 16 that he plans to go all the way to the GOP convention because neither Trump or Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas are going to have enough delegates to declare themselves the GOP nominee.

The Hill notes that Trump has 621 delegates, but it will be hard for him to win the required 1,237 delegates and avoid a contested convention, which Kasich is apparently counting on.

CNN host Chris Cuomo asked Trump on March 16 about his numbers and the GOP convention.

“I think we will win before getting to the convention,” Trump replied. “But I can tell you, if we didn’t and if we’re 20 votes short or if we’re 100 short and we’re at 1,100 and somebody else is at 500 or 400 because we’re way ahead of everybody, I don’t think you can say that we don’t get it automatically; I think you would have riots. I think you would have riots.”

Trump said that he was representing millions of voters, including first-times, and added: “Now, if you disenfranchise those people and you say, 'Well, I’m sorry, but you’re 100 votes short' even though the next one is 500 votes short, I think you would have problems like you’ve never seen before. I think bad things would happen, I really do. I believe it. I wouldn’t lead it, but I think bad things would happen.”

The Hill reports that there is pressure for Kasich to drop out of the race, and lend his support to Cruz.

“If John Kasich stays in the race, he may as well contribute all the money he spends in-kind to Donald Trump, because he will make it so that Cruz cannot compete with him in the winner-take-all states,” ex-Cruz campaign aide Rick Tyler told MSNBC.
