Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas was confronted by several supporters of GOP front-runner Donald Trump during a campaign stop in Marion, Indiana, May 2 (video below).
According to RawStory.com, the Trump voters interrupted Cruz and repeatedly called him "Lyin' Ted," a nicknamed created by Trump.
"I'm running to be everyone's president, those who vote for me and those who do not," Cruz told the crowd.
One man, wearing sunglasses and holding a Trump sign, cut Cruz off: "We don't want you."
Popular VideoThis judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:
"You're entitled to your view, sir and I will respect it," Cruz replied. "In fact, I will---."
"Do the math," the man interrupted. "You asked Kasich to drop out, it's your turn. Take your own words, time to drop out, sir."
Cruz and the man argued whether Trump would get 1,237 delegates before the GOP convention.
When Cruz asked the man what he liked about Trump, the man said, "Everything."
Cruz repeatedly asked the man for one thing that he supported about Trump, and the man finally said, "The wall."
Cruz said that Trump told The New York Times that he wasn't gong to follow through on his anti-immigration promises.
That conversation possibly took place off the record, but The New York Times would not release the transcript, noted BuzzFeed in February.
The man cut Cruz off with: "Lyin' Ted!"
"Career politicians have killed America!" another person yelled.
"You are the problem," the man continued. "You are the problem, politician, you are the problem."
The man and Cruz went back and forth about Trump's wealth, and the man asked, "Where’s your Goldman Sachs jacket? We know your wife works there."
Cruz went on to say that Trump had a million-dollar judgment against him for hiring "illegal aliens," and added that Trump brings in "hundreds of foreign workers instead of hiring Americans."
Trump actually settled a very long lawsuit involving some Polish undocumented workers, who at one point wanted $1 million, but the court records were sealed, so it's not known what they got, reported ThinkProgress.
"Sir, with all respect, Donald Trump is deceiving you," Cruz added. "He is playing you for a chump."
Cruz said the mainstream media supports Trump, which brought laughter from the crowd.
"The thing is that I don’t agree with everybody, but I believe in Trump," the man told Cruz. "He’s the only one that’s going to put us where we need to be. What are you going to do about the Second Amendment?”
Cruz said that he defended gun rights in the U.S. Supreme Court, asserted that Trump supported a gun ban by former president Bill Clinton, and called Trump a "New York liberal" who planned to take away Second Amendment rights.
Cruz said that Trump told his supporters to punch people who disagreed with him, but the man insisted that wasn't true; Cruz told him to Google it.
“You’ll find out tomorrow, Indiana don’t want you,” the man replied.
Another man and the first man asked Cruz, "Are you Canadian?"
