Just before President Barack Obama threatened to launch airstrikes in Iraq on Thursday, the terror group known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) warned they would strike in America.
“I say to America that the Islamic Caliphate has been established,” Abu Mosa, a spokesperson for ISIS, said in a Youtube video on Thursday. “Don’t be cowards and attack us with drones. Instead send your soldiers, the ones we humiliated in Iraq.”
Mosa added that the group will “raise the flag of Allah” in the White House.
The video is the first in a series to be released by VICE Media featuring ISIS, which were filmed recently during a three week trip reporter Medyan Dairieh took in the ISIS-controlled Syrian city of Raqqa.

On Thursday, Obama said that he would not send troops back to Iraq, but launch aerial strikes that target Sunni militants in order to protect religious minorities and U.S. interests. He also noted that the U.S. would initiate a humanitarian effort to help thousands of Iraqi citizens who are trapped in the Sinjar mountains.
“To stop the advance on Erbil, I’ve directed our military to take targeted strikes against ISIS terrorist convoys should they move toward the city,” Obama said.
Obama added that the only lasting solution is reconciliation among Iraqi communities and stronger Iraqi security forces.
