During an interview yesterday with Christian radio host Janet Mefferd, Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS) claimed that the recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions on the Defense of Marriage Act and Proposition 8 should allow polygamy.

According to RightWingWatch.org, Rep. Huelskamp started off by comparing gay marriage to women marrying their daughters (audio below).

"Every state has restrictions on marriage. It is the case In Kansas, a daughter cannot marry her mother... There are restrictions on marriage, it's not open to anybody and any groups of people, every state has restrictions," declared Rep. Huelskamp.

"The logical reality that follows this decision would be that there could be absolutely no restrictions, according to Mr. Kennedy, on marriage. So then polygamy should be allowed under this decision."

“What gets lost in this whole debate is 'what’s the impact on our children?' That’s what the left doesn’t care about. That’s what this is showing up in these decisions that you know what just because two adults or three adults desire one thing that doesn’t mean it’s best for our children,” added Rep. Huelskamp.
