Report: S.C. Governor Formulating Plan To Remove Confederate Flag From State House

| by Sean Kelly

South Carolina House leaders have reportedly agreed on a plan to take down the Confederate flag flying above the statehouse in the wake of the racially-motivated mass shooting in Charleston last Wednesday.

Republican Gov. Nikki Haley, according to local sources, is planning to hold a press conference at 4 p.m. The specifics of the press conference have not been disclosed.

A legislative leader reportedly told FITS News that the removal of the flag could come sooner than many expected.

“We are in ‘when, not if’ territory now,” the leader said.

Haley returned to the state capitol of Columbia after visiting Charleston in the wake of the shooting at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church on Wednesday, which left nine people dead.
