U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Mississippi) made a strange joke while giving a re-election speech at the Forrest General Hospital in Pine Belt, Mississippi, on Tuesday.
The Clarion-Ledger posted a video (below) that shows Sen. Cochran recalling his childhood in the area and "doing all sorts of indecent things with animals."

The audience took the statement as a joke and laughed.
The New York Times reports that Sen. Cochran is campaigning in a run off election against Tea Party favorite State Senator Chris McDaniel (R). McDaniel garnered roughly 1,400 more votes than Sen. Cochran in the GOP primary on June 3, but fell just short of the 50 percent requirement. The runoff vote is scheduled for June 24.
Cochran campaign spokesman Jordan Russell downplayed the "animals" remark with an odd response of his own.
“I’ll check with my political correctness department and get back to you,” Russell told The Daily Caller.
