Sen. Mary Landrieu Helps LSU Fan Do Keg Stand

Louisiana Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu caused a stir last weekend after she was caught on camera helping an LSU fan do a keg stand during a tailgate party on campus Saturday.

The photo tweeted by Ellen L. Carmichael shows Landrieu put the beer keg spigot in a man’s mouth.

The LSU Tigers played the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Baton Rouge Saturday night.

The man in the purple polo shirt is in his late twenties, according to the Washington Post. He allegedly asked the senator to do a keg stand and when she refused she offered to help him do one, wrote Mother Jones reporter Tim Murphy while “tailgating with the most endangered Democrat in the Senate.”

"My first keg stand," Landrieu told Murphy. "He wanted me to do it, but I said absolutely not—at least not in front of the national press."

Murphy said it might have won her some votes.

"That's alright—I'm not that desperate," she responded.

Landrieu was in hot water earlier this month for improperly using $33,700 in Senate funds for travel.

Her campaign has reimbursed the federal government for chartered flights she charges to her Senate office. Landrieu said the “mistakes” were the result of “sloppy bookkeeping,” CNN reported.
