A lawyer for Sarah Palin is threatening a lawsuit over that new sensational book about her.

The Associated Press reports that attorney John Tiemessen has sent a letter to book publisher Crown Publishing Group saying the book defames Palin and her family and contains "a series of lies and rumors."

The letter cites an email that author Joe McGinniss allegedly sent to a blogger in January that attempted to confirm several rumors about Palin and her family. Conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart posted the email last week.

Tiemessen said "The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin," contains "most of" those rumors, and that they "amounted to the wishful fantasies of disturbed individuals."

Among other things, the book alleges cocaine use by Sarah and Todd Palin, claims Palin had an affair with Todd's former business partner and that she had a one-night stand with basketball star Glen Rice.

Palin hasn't commented publicly on the book, but Todd Palin bashed it, saying McGinniss has a "creepy obsession" with his wife.
