Sarah Palin and her political action committee were sued for copyright infringment this week by a New Jersey newspaper for allegedly using their iconic September 11th photograph without permission.

The photograph in question shows three firefighters hoisting an American flag above amid the rubble of the World Trade Center.

North Jersey Media Group Inc. filed a lawsuit in Manhattan federal court Friday claiming that Palin’s SarahPAC posted the image on its website and Facebook without their permission.

The suit asks the court to stop the PAC from using the photograph and seeks damages.

SarahPAC, based in Arlington, Va., did not respond to the Associated Press request for comment.

According to the Associated Press, North Jersey Media Group publishes The Record and Herald News newspapers plus 40 weekly community papers, twelve magazines and two websites.
