Former Republican Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska made an unscheduled appearance for GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump in Tampa, Florida on March 14 and slammed Americans who have protested Trump at rallies (video below).

“What we don't have time for is all that petty punk a-- little thuggery stuff that's been going on with these [...] protesters who are doing nothing, but wasting your time and trying to take away your First Amendment rights, your rights to assemble peacefully,” Palin stated, notes ABC News.

Palin didn't go into detail on how Trump supporters were losing their rights, but she did tell the audience that her husband Todd was in ICU following a snowmobile accident on March 13 that caused her to cancel an earlier appearance for Trump.

"And the media being on the thugs' side -- what the heck are you guys thinking, media? It doesn't make sense," Palin added. "Well, you all get it. And I think the media and too many other candidates, they’re underestimating the wisdom of the people."

Trump joked about Todd's accident during his speech in Tampa. He said the terrorist attacks in Paris and the San Bernardino shooting could have been prevented if someone armed with a gun had been present, reports Mediaite.com.

Trump said that France has the "toughest gun laws in the world, you can't have a gun." However, France does issue permits for guns.

“There were no bullets going in the opposite direction,” Trump said. “If Todd Palin were in that room, frankly, if Sarah Palin were in the room it would have been [...]."

Palin showed up uninvited at the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City, Florida, on March 13, according to The Daily Beast.

Surrounded by police officers, Palin appeared at a strawberry-shortcake stand where she spoke to about two dozen people and posed for pictures.

Palin did not give any speeches, but told The Daily Beast: “The thugs who are disrupting his rallies are doing nothing but harm to anyone’s right to assemble peacefully, and right to speak. [The people] who are disrupting… they’re not protesters, they’re much more violent than that.”

“[Trump] certainly has [disavowed violence], thank goodness,” Palin added. “Trump’s reminded people, we don’t have to put up with that, because they’re disrupting, not just his message, but the people’s right to be there to hear what he has to say."

“We’re about happiness here! We’re happiness here!” the manager of the festival piped in.
