In an interview, Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont said President-elect Donald Trump is a "pathological liar" who "changes his mind every single day."
Sanders went on to say that he hopes more Americans will join a movement for more workers' rights and better pay around the country.
"I am working very hard on this, and we need the help of the American people obviously ... to build a movement of millions of people who actually are following reality. And that's the challenge. Real change in this country, I am more and more convinced of it, is not going to come from Capitol Hill, its got to come from grassroots America," he said, according to The Hill.
But Sanders also acknowledged that many working-class people in the Midwest, which has been hit hard by industry job losses in recent decades, ended up voting for Trump, even though former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was widely expected to win the states of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, which ultimately decided the election.

And Sanders said he plans on listening to voters in an upcoming Wisconsin town hall hosted by MSNBC.
"I want the truth. I really want to hear why people voted the way they voted,” Sanders said. “I want to hear why people voted for Donald Trump, what their expectations were, why they didn't vote for Secretary Clinton.”
Although Sanders has long been critical of Trump's rhetoric against Latino immigrants and Muslims, the Vermont Senator with a socialist bent and the President-elect, who made billions through high-end hotels, have both expressed similar views on the need to keep manufacturing jobs in the country.
And after Trump's election, Sanders acknowledged that Trump won by speaking to serious economic anxieties that Americans have been feeling.

Sanders gave a Nov. 9 statement, according to USA Today:
Donald Trump tapped into the anger of a declining middle class that is sick and tired of establishment economics, establishment politics and the establishment media.
People are tired of working longer hours for lower wages, of seeing decent paying jobs go to China and other low-wage countries, of billionaires not paying any federal income taxes and of not being able to afford a college education for their kids — all while the very rich become much richer.
