Saddam Hussein's Daughter Praises Donald Trump

| by Brendan Kelly

In her first interview since her father's execution, the daughter of former Iraq President Saddam Hussein discussed U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, and her thoughts may surprise you.

Raghad Saddam Hussein, the daughter of deceased dictator Saddam, has given her first interview since her father was executed in 2006.

According to AOL, Saddam was killed by hanging after being convicted of crimes against humanity. In 2003, the dictator was overthrown by a U.S.-led coalition, ending his presidency, which began in 1979.

In the interview with CNN, Raghad said that she "never saw that moment," referring to her father's execution, adding: "I refuse to see it."

She said that "the details of his death are ugly and painful - but it's an honorable death."

During the interview, Raghad said that she blames the U.S. for what happened in her country, but said that she hopes Trump will be different from his predecessors.

"This man has just arrived to the leadership ... But from what is apparent, this man has a high level of political sensibility, that is vastly different than the one who preceded him," Hussein told CNN. "He exposed the mistakes of the others, specifically in terms of Iraq, which means he is very aware of the mistakes made in Iraq and what happened to my father."

Trump claimed to have always been against the Iraq war throughout his presidential campaign, though in interviews before and after the war, notably in an interview with radio personality Howard Stern, he said that he supported the invasion of Iraq. Trump did, however, praise Saddam for his efficiency in killing "terrorists," while noting that the dictator "was a bad guy."
