Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh claims the mainstream media is ignoring the alleged State Department cover-up in Benghazi because “there’s no sex” in the story.
“We had sex with Jodi Arias, we had sex with the Castro brothers in Cleveland, sex with Amanda Knox. There’s no sex in Benghazi. No wonder it’s not interesting to people,” Rush said on his May 9 show.
Republicans had high expectations about the Benghazi hearing that began Wednesday before the House Oversight and Government Reforms Committee. The Sept. 11, 2012, attacks on the U.S. outpost in Benghazi, Libya, killed four people, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens.
Three “whistleblowers” from the State Department gave testimony, which committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., said showed that then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Under Secretary for Management Patrick Kennedy attempted to leave the Bureau of Counterterrorism out of the equation in the aftermath of the attack.

Megyn Kelly of Fox News deduced on Thursday that the reason “mainstream media” gave a "collective yawn" over the hearing was because of liberal bias. Critics allege a "cover-up" is protecting Hillary Clinton’s potential 2016 presidential bid.
Limbaugh claimed it was the lack of titillation that reduced media coverage. He referred to those Americans not interested in the Benghazi hearing as “low-information voters.”
The verdict in the Jodi Arias murder trial was read on Wednesday afternoon, the same day as the Benghazi hearing. Arias has been on trial since Jan. 2 and was found guilty of murder in the first degree of her former boyfriend Travis Alexander who died in June of last year.
