Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has seen a 13-point jump in support since mid-October, leading the field with 35 percent support as of Dec. 8.

A poll conducted by CBS News and The New York Times found Trump’s closest competitor was Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, whose support quadrupled to 16 percent.

Although retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson briefly appeared to challenge Trump, his support has halved and now stands at 13 percent.

The survey was conducted both before and after Trump called for a ban on all Muslim immigrants, but 51 percent of his supporters said they have already made up their minds about voting for him.

Trump flouted the results on Twitter. “Being [politically correct] will NOT [make America great again],” he wrote, along with an image of the results.
