Photo: GOP Lawmaker Roberto Arango Quits; Nude Photos on Gay App

| by Michael Allen

Puerto Rico Sen. Roberto Arango, the Republican lawmaker whose shirtless photograph appeared on Grindr, a hookup app for men interested in having sex with other men, has resigned.

In one photo, Arango is naked from the waist up with his cell phone obscuring his face. Other pictures allegedly show Arango bent over a bed with his buttocks pointing at the camera and some pics reportedly show his face.

When asked about the pictures over the weekend, Arango reportedly told a local television show, "You know I’ve been losing weight. As I shed that weight, I’ve been taking pictures. I don’t remember taking this particular picture but I’m not gonna say I didn’t take it. I’d tell you if I remembered taking the picture but I don’t."

Arango, previously married with one child, voted in favor of Resolution 99, which would block any attempt to legalize gay marriage in Puerto Rico. In office since 2005, Arango was the vice-chair of the Bush-Cheney re-election campaign in Puerto Rico in 2004. He was also municipal director for the Republican Party in Puerto Rico.
