Vice President-elect Mike Pence said he wasn't offended when he attended the Broadway musical, “Hamilton” and was booed by the audience and then spoken to directly by the cast, which can be seen in the video below.
"I did hear what was said from the stage. I can tell you I wasn't offended by what was said. I will leave to others whether that was the appropriate venue to say it," Pence told Fox News.
Pence inadvertently made headlines when arrived to the play and cell phone recordings of the audience booing him went viral.
But the story went deeper when “Hamilton” actor Brandon Victor Dixon addressed Pence directly from the stage after the show.

“We, sir - we - are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights,” he said, according to the New York Times. “We truly hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us.”
The statement won praise and criticism, but the strongest reaction cam from president-elect Donald Trump, who blasted the actors from his Twitter account.
“Our wonderful future V.P. Mike Pence was harassed last night at the theater by the cast of Hamilton, cameras blazing. This should not happen!” Trump wrote. “The Theater must always be a safe and special place. The cast of Hamilton was very rude last night to a very good man, Mike Pence. Apologize!”

But Dixon said there was “nothing to apologize for.”
“Art is meant to bring people together. It’s meant to raise consciousness,” Dixon told CBS. “And when you have a platform like that — I called [show producer] Jeffrey Seller after the show and said I applaud you all for not throwing away your shot, for taking a moment to spread a message of love, to spread a message of unity. We’re not here to boo. We’re here to cheer each other on.”
