President Barack Obama visited the Late Show last night with David Letterman, sparking a ratings spike for the talk show. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the visit resulted in the highest overnight rating since February 2010.

Obama started off the interview by making fun of Clint Eastwood's empty chair speech from the Republican National Convention. He also talked about the Democratic National Convention, and joked about how everyone thought Michelle's speech was better than his.

The interview took a more serious turn when Letterman brought up the national debt. Obama discussed how the debt reached unprecedented heights, and also discussed how they were working on improving it.

Letterman asked Obama if he feels personally responsible for the lack of job growth. Obama replied that he feels "responsible for everything."
