President Barack Obama was speaking tonight in Syracuse, N.Y., about affordable education for college students when he was interrupted by two female protesters.

According to NBC News' Shawna Thomas, the protesters held a giant “Free Bradley Manning” sign and were roundly booed by the crowd (video below).

As security personnel escorted the women out, Obama stated: "Can I just say as hecklers go, that young lady was very polite and she brought up an issue of importance, and that’s part of what America is all about."

Manning was recently sentenced to 35 years in prison but has reportedly requested a presidential pardon.
