North Carolina Rep. Larry Pittman Says Obama Is Not A Traitor To His Country...Of Kenya

| by Jonathan Wolfe

It looks like North Carolina Rep. Larry Pittman (R) is preparing for a post-politics career in standup comedy.

Speaking in front of a Concord, North Carolina crowd recently, Pittman responded to a post on his Facebook wall calling Obama a traitor. Pittman said the he disagreed with the post, and that Obama has done nothing in office to betray his native country… of Kenya.

“Someone had posted something [on Facebook] with a picture of Barack Obama and across it said ‘traitor,’ ” Pittman said.  “And, you know, I don’t always agree with the guy, I certainly didn’t vote for him but I gotta defend him on this one. I just don’t think it’s right at all to call Barack Obama a traitor. There’s a lot of things he’s done wrong but he is not a traitor. Not as far as I can tell. I haven’t come across any evidence yet that he has done one thing to harm Kenya.”

Nice one, Pittman.  Here’s video of the joke:

It’s impossible to know if Pittman was completely joking or if he is actually among the ranks of the birthers. It would be nice to think a publicly elected official is too smart to still put credence in the birther theory, but you never know. After all, Pittman recently said that the votes of Christian representatives belong to Jesus Christ, and that abortion doctors should be hanged in public.
