Rep. Michael Grimm told Fox News recently that President Obama’s new executive orders have the founding fathers “turning over in their graves”.

One order, the most notable, includes Obama’s plan to extend high-speed Internet connections to every school in the nation.

"He has an agenda and he's going to do whatever he has to do to pass that agenda, regardless of the Constitution,” Grimm said.

He added that the president was to blame for the stalling in Congress, noting that he has not led Congress to rise above partisanship. Grimm complained that he had never been invited to the White House to discuss policy.

In particular, Grimm believes that the Internet plan is a disregard of Congress, and therefore a disregard of the voice of the people.

The plan would require the Federal Communications Commission to increase a telecommunications fee in order to pay for the ConnectEd program. The program would cost between $4 billion and $6 billion, and could cost phone users an extra $12 spread across the next three years.

"You would think that connecting schools to the information superhighway would be a pretty noncontroversial topic,” White House spokesperson Josh Earnest said, “particularly when it's something that could be accomplished through a relatively modest investment.”

Earnest added that the dysfunction in Congress required that the president take action independently.
