Sheriffs from across America came to the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. on Wednesday where they met with Republican congressman who are opposed to President Obama's executive orders on immigration.
The National Review reported last month that a "massive gathering" was planned with 200 sheriffs expected, but a much smaller number showed up, judging by a picture of the meeting posted on Twitter by Politico reporter Seung Min Kim.
There appeared to be more protesters outside of the White House yesterday. This group of demonstrators waved the American flag and the "Don't Tread On Me" flag, often used by the Tea Party (video below).
The anti-Obama rally turned ugly, however, when some of the protesters began making racist lynching remarks about the president, noted RightWingWatch.org.
Some of the uglier comments from the crowd included: “Hang the lying Kenyan traitor!” and “Plenty of trees in the front yard, wouldn’t be the first one hung on one of them trees!”
Another protester said that hanging was the punishment for treason.
“Don’t snap his neck, you watch him choke to death,” added another protester.
