| by Michael Allen

Jon Stewart skewered Republicans and Fox News tonight for their portrayal of the federal government shutdown.

The Daily Show host said that Fox News, which he called “bulls--- mountain," may have realized “this shutdown ain’t looking so hot for one particular political party” (video below).

He also mocked Fox News for trying to use the WW II memorial shutdown against Democrats when it was the GOP that wanted the shutdown.

“Could there be a higher octane fuel for Fox News’ false outrage exploitation engine than wheelchair-bound World War II veterans? Maybe a fetus that owns a small business and that small business makes ‘Merry Christmas’ muzzle cozies,” said Stewart.

Stewart mocked Republicans for complaining about the size of the U.S. government and their love for small government, reports RawStory.com.

"You hate the government. Yet you rail like banshees if any of the services and benefits you like are taken away," added Stewart.

Stewart also interviewed laid off government employee Smokey the Bear, who threw a lit cigarette on the ground and said, "Oh, you want me to go put that out? How about this, f--- you, pay me, Jon, all right?"
