Vice President Joe Biden called the wrong number Tuesday night when he was attempting to congratulate the newly elected mayor of Boston, Marty Walsh.
“You son of a gun, Marty!” Biden said. “You did it!”
Unfortunately he had the wrong Marty Walsh. The Walsh Biden called is a former aid to Sen. Edward M. Kennedy and now the head of a government relations firm, according to the Boston Globe.
He thanked Biden, but told him he had the wrong Marty. He offered to help him track down the right Walsh, who was celebrating at the Park Plaza Hotel.
Walsh said he also received a voicemail from chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) R.T. Rybak, the mayor of Minneapolis and vice chairman of the DNC.
He said he wouldn’t be surprised if more wrong numbers are coming from Washington power players.
“We’re a dime a dozen in Boston,” he said. “I probably know eight Marty Walshes.”
