Ivanka Trump Taking First Lady's Office In White House

| by Oren Peleg

With President-elect Donald Trump's wife, Melania, not moving to the White House for at least the remainder of the school year, the role of first lady must be filled. Enter Ivanka Trump, the president-elect's daughter.

“Via @SaraMurray: Ivanka Trump to get office in same space reserved for First Lady in WH; Ivanka's title still TBD, per transition source,” read a Dec. 14 tweet by CNN’s Lisa Mirando.

Trump has already stated that he would “love” to have Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, involved in his administration. However, anti-nepotism laws may be blocking such ambitions.

"We're working that out right now,” the president-elect told Fox News in a Dec. 11 interview, reports The Hill. “They're both very talented people. … I would love to be able to have them involved.”

Donald Trump has also announced that his children will be running his businesses once he takes over the White House. However, following a pair of tweets on the matter from Dec. 12, Ivanka’s name was excluded.

“Even though I am not mandated by law to do so, I will be leaving my businesses before January 20th so that I can focus full time on the......Presidency. Two of my children, Don and Eric, plus executives, will manage them,” the president-elect tweeted. “No new deals will be done during my term(s) in office.”

Earlier in December, it was reported that Jared and Ivanka were house-hunting around D.C.

“Ivanka has no intention of taking a formal role in the administration,” a spokeswoman for the Trump Organization told The Washington Post. “[S]he plans to be an advocate for issues she cares deeply about. The team is working hard on the final stages of vetting the structure that will be put in place in leading the Trump Organization to avoid even the appearance of any conflict of interest.”
